Sea Trial
Sea and Dock Trials
During the final stages of the refurbishment, repair, and/or construction of an offshore unit or vessel, the performance of all components need to be verified against the original specification requirements. Testing procedures as well as testing forms to obtain client approval can be developed to ensure proper system/component function. Some of testing procedures and documents that are typical during dock trials are controls testing, power panel testing, illumination study, noise level testing, HVAC air flow, reheater function, etc. In addition to typical dock trials, typical sea trials consist of speed and acceleration trials, zig zag and turning circle test, shaft torque measurements, sound level registration, crash stop, endurance trials and many more checks as required by regulatory and/or specification.
